Riverside County Regional Medical Center (RCRMC) – sponsoring institution.  RCRMC is the regional county hospital for Riverside County, which is the second largest county by area in the United States.  It has 439 acute care inpatient beds (44 ICU beds and 318 acute medical surgical beds).  There are 23,000 inpatient admissions each year and 9300 surgical procedures are performed here each year.  It provides services in all major fields of general surgery and the surgical subspecialties.  There are active dedicated services for general surgery, thoracic surgery, vascular surgery, surgical ICU and subspecialty services in urology, plastic surgery, otolaryngology, neurosurgery, orthopedic surgery, gynecological surgery and ophthalmology surgery.  It is a level 2 trauma center.  The majority of the patient population is indigent, with a substantial minority of patients representative of the non-indigent county population.  Because of the indigent nature of the patient population, many patients present late in the disease process, and the pathology is often quite advanced.  RCRMC also has an ACGME accredited Family Practice Residency as well as American Osteopathic Association (AOA) accredited residencies in Anesthesiology and Orthopedic Surgery.
